Principal Tanya Allen
TANYA G. ALLEN
It is with pleasure that I welcome you
to Burdell-Hunt Magnet School's
website. I am proud and honored to
serve as the principal of this
wonderful school. I was raised,
attended school and, lived in East
Macon for most of my life. I attended J. Ellsworth Hall Elementary School,
Appling Middle School, and graduated from Northeast High School in 1990.
After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Georgia, I returned home to serve my community.
I have over 20 years of experience as an educator - all in Bibb County. I began my teaching career as an eighth grade English/Language Arts teacher at Miller Middle School. One of my most distinguished honors was receiving National Board Certification in Early Adolescence English Language Arts in 2002. I have been a school administrator for most of my teaching career. I have participated in several administrative professional learning opportunities including Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement. I have a history of inspiring and shaping the minds of children.
Within the community, I am committed to working in the area of children literacy. One of my future goals is to write children's books. Additionally, I enjoy the performing arts. My religious, community and civic affiliations include Swift Creek Baptist Church, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and The Junior League of Macon. I am married to Trent Allen who is also an educator and coach.
As an educator I strive for success and achievement. As the principal, I believe in making achievement the top priority by strengthening the bonds of respect, responsibility, and relationships with those around me - students, parents, teachers and community members. The staff is in a mode of study, sharing, and flexibility to learn new things, try various approaches while continually adjusting and monitoring data. I am committed to maintaining the integrity of the communicative arts program at Burdell-Hunt Magnet School. I invite parents and community members to visit our school!
